The lower image is a view of a larger work on display at a local gallery exhibit of erotic art.  Not sure but I feel it is at the margins of what I understand to be erotic representation but none the less I was pleased it was chosen to be included in the collection of work produced by local painters, photographers and sculptors.
The venue is Nina's Nook, a unique space located at 125A Avenue A, Turners Falls, Mass. 01376.  Turners is just a quick jog off of Rt. 2 between Gill and Greenfield.  More about the exhibit, gallery hours, etc. can be found at www.ninasnook.com.

ArtSpace Exhibit Comes to an End

Our drawing group exhibit of work based on the figure comes to an end on November 18th.  One of the participants took this photo of the gallery and shared it with me the other day.  The framed piece to the left of center is my work.  Watercolor, charcoal, gouache and graphite.  It was great fun to participate; the opening reception an opportunity enjoy each other's work and learn from those attending how they saw and felt about the pieces on display.

2004-2011

If my memory is accurate I started working on this piece in 2004. I've moved it so often, from work-space to work-space, storage to studio, mishandled it, smudged it over and over and reworked it endlessly, so much so that it doesn't have much resemblence to what I started. If I could frame it, maybe I'd be done with it! Watercolor, charcoal, pastel, gouache; it's about 24" by 48". This image is a portion of the work.

Some work from Sunday

Graphite, watercolor and gouache. Both pieces are about 5" x 8" and done on mat board. Quick studies with color added after the initial "outlines" were made. Personal preference for the yellow background; something about the attitude (real or imagined) depicted.

2011 Post #1

Although my postings have been few since August 2010 (actually only one)
my work has continued....although most of it remains unphotographed. I have managed,

however, to make some images and have added them here. I did some pictures in October in Shelburne and the watercolor/gouache directly above is one from that effort. It was made while a shower passed through the area.

The remainder of the work, with the exception of the two pieces at the top, are of recent vintage and incorporate charcoal/watercolor/graphite/wash in combination or alone.

Old Work Recorded

These are several images I have recently scanned to my computer. They represent some work which inspires me to continue my efforts with paint, paper, pastel and charcoal. The watercolor with four figures was inspired by a meal and conversation I had with my brother in law several years ago at a bistro on 2nd Ave. in Manhattan. I had taken the train into the city from Boston to spend some time with him and while riding thru Connecticut on the return trip I pulled out my sketchbook and recorded my memory of the previous night's supper setting. From that came the watercolor.

Shoiban modeled for the charcoal figure, Venus in Transit remains a work in progress and the Wisteria is an image of my backyard in Duxbury, Massachusetts done several years ago; it's watercolor and pastel and a particular favorite.
