I've decided to enter three pictures in a June 2008 show at Artspace in Greenfield. Each piece is figurative as is the theme of the exhibit. The portrait above is one I will show. It is pastel and charcoal on paper, approximately 18" x 24".

I like that portrait, Rob. Nice choice for entry into the show. I have no doubt it will grab people's attention, as all good art does. It certainly grabs mine!
You've been discussing pastel a lot in your recent posts, and I think it's such a beautiful medium. I know many dedicated pastelists, my friend Sam among them, and they always praise it for the direct connection it allows between the artist's use of color and the surface. Like you said, there is no brush or brush handle to get "in the way". It's just colors to fingers to paper. It doesn't get any better than that.
