Focus phase?

While working this through I've reshaped lines and altered color and tones almost as frequently as I've placed the board on the easel.  Clearly (to me) this is an expedition in progress; an adventure in self-education via realist art making.  Although I've abstracted many images and various subjects the concepts of proportion and perspective are never too far from my consciousness.
I've flattened many subjects and images but even then some part of me wants proportion to hold an idea or an execution of brush/knife/canvas together.  I think the completed piece always reveals bits of the maker's world view and the things that ground him or her in time, space and the emotions which connect us and reveal ourselves to others.
