I finished this two weeks ago and neglected to present it!  Really fun project!

The charcoal piece is maybe 1.5 hours in; the oil on canvas landscape is maybe 20 hours and now beginning to move toward resolution....I can see where I'm going with much more clarity at this point.  Much more time looking vs. painting.

Delighted to be participating in a locally sponsored exhibit honoring well know Black musical artists! Turners Falls River Culture organized the event as part of Black History month activities in the community.  Publication of one of my entered pieces in the local paper is quite the dividend!!

Almost done with this.  Some highlights and a bit of line and definition.  Maybe some color, too.

Louis Armstrong/new work/detail

River Culture, an arts organization in Turners Falls, has organized an exhibit of portraits of black musicians during Black History month.  An opening will take place at The Rendezvous in Turners and I'll post date and time when I have it.

The oil sketch below Louis is something I did last week using a charcoal drawing for reference.
